2015 All-Star Stitches #40: Brock Holt

21 07 2019

As a reminder, I went to the All-Star game and Home Run Derby in Cincinnati.  So I’m collecting this All-Star Stitches set!  These cards have swatches from the Monday practice festivities.

This is the 40th card toward this set.

Card number:  STIT-BHO

Player:  Brock Holt

How I got the card:  COMC in April

Position:  Infielder/Outfielder (he ended up playing Left Field)

How he made the roster: Holt was added as a reserve by manager Ned Yost.

Holt made his 1st All-Star team in his 2nd full season, and he was the only Red Sox All-Star despite the fact they were only two years removed from being WS Champs.  He hasn’t made the ASG since, though he’s been an important cog in a successful Sox run in the years since.

First half stat line:  .292/2/22

All-Star game:  0-1 with a run and a strike out.  Holt came in for Mike Trout, who had walked, as a pinch runner in the 7th and came around to score on a Manny Machado double.  He struck out to lead off the top of the 9th when Aroldis Chapman struck out the side.
