Another Cooperstown Brewing Co for this Saturday’s post. As a reminder – I’m going to do as many “Saturday Suds” as possible from this brewery when Saturday rolls around. I have at least 2 more after this. This is Cooperstown Brewing Company beer #5. I posted about the brewery itself almost 2 months ago.
Brewery: Cooperstown Brewing in Milford, NY
Beer: Back Yard IPA
Description: “A well balanced IPA providing a floral and citrusy character using Tettnang and Cascade hops.”
Well balanced probably means balance between malt and hop. I’ve got to agree – this is isn’t overly hoppy, which means people aren’t going to be clamoring for this beer. I do like this one, however. It’s more malty than I prefer in an IPA – but the base idea for Cooperstown Brewing Company is that they are going to be more like English ales.
Medium: I bought it in a 12 ounce bottle. You can also get it on tap at the brewery or some other places.
How it’s related to baseball: All of CBC’s beers are baseball themed; they’re built around the idea that a brewery around Cooperstown should focus on the baseball part of the town. The label has baseballs in the back and promotes the premise of playing baseball in your backyard. Sandlot may have been a better beer name, but I get it. They also sell this and a few others at Citi Field from time to time, as well as at the Binghamton Mets park.
