I had a ton of “qualifying” beers in Cooperstown, so I’m going to try to do a “Saturday Suds” for every Saturday until I run out. Which I think has be about 8 more weeks. This is the first of the beers I’ve had from Cooperstown Brewing Company, though I posted about the brewery itself last Saturday.
Brewery: Cooperstown Brewing in Milford, NY
Beer: Bambino Amber Ale
Description: This Amber Ale is new to Cooperstown Brewing. You can only get it on site, and they actually haven’t added it to their “Our Ales” page on their website (the link I have above). They just call it New Amber Ale, so I wonder if there’s some reason they haven’t officially gone with “Bambino”. You can see the name on the lower right chalk board in the picture above. It’s more amber than ale, which I consider a good thing.
Medium: Since you can only get it on tap, I bought a pint sized pour from the bar when we went there after the Griffey/Piazza induction ceremony. You could fill it up in a growler or crowler as well.
How it’s related to baseball: All of CBC’s beers are baseball themed; they’re built around the idea that a brewery around Cooperstown should focus on the baseball part of the town. This beer is obviously named after the most monumental Hall of Famer of them all, Mr. George Herman Ruth.
