New collection – 2015 All-Star Stitches: Clayton Kershaw

5 11 2015

So I’ve decided to go after a relic set.  Since I went to the 2015 All-Star game in Cincinnati, I want to collect some kind of cards set that go with the game and Monday festivities.  And I want it to be somewhat challenging.  Getting all 60 relics for that set will be pretty difficult, but it certainly is doable.  The 60 cards are listed at the bottom of this post.

Obviously, this means I’m in the market for these.  Anyone who has these – I’m game for a trade!!!!

Every time I get a new card toward this set, I’ll do a post.  I got 1 in my box, that being the best pitcher in baseball – Clayton Kershaw.  He’s the first of these posts.

2015 Topps Update All-Star Stitch Kershaw

Card number:  STIT-CK

Player:  Clayton Kershaw

Position:  Pitcher

How he made the roster:  Kershaw was a replacement, added for Max Scherzer who was ineligible under the “pitched on Sunday” rule.  That’s right, the best pitcher in the game wasn’t even going to make the team.  Kershaw was a final vote candidate, but Carlos Martinez beat him out.

This was his 5th All-Star selection.

First half stat line:  6-6/2.85/160, 123 IP, 1.06 WHIP

All-Star game:  1 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 1K (Loss).  Unfortunately – my first card is of the losing pitcher.  Kershaw pitched the 5th inning, giving up RBI hits to Prince Fielder and Lorenzo Cain to break a 1-1 tie.

In response to your comment on my post inquiring about the Boxberger relic, I need to hold onto that one. I can help you out with Kipnis and Adrian Gonzalez, however. Shoot me an email if you’d like to set up a trade. Tim (dot) trisomenc (at) gmail (dot) com
