1990 Topps Cards – Big Red Machine

1 10 2011

The 1990 Topps set actually saw a net increase in the number of Big Red Machine members represented.  Pete Rose had his last Topps manager card in 1989 after getting kicked out of baseball.  Sparky Anderson was the lone carry-over as he was still the manager of the Detroit Tigers.  There were two additions.  First, Ken Griffey Sr. got back into the set after a hiatus in the ’89 base set (he did have a card in the Traded set).  Additionally, Johnny Bench got a card as part of the “Turn Back the Clock” subset.
