I just came across your blog today and wanted to wish you good luck in completing all the Topps sets. I’m also trying to complete all the Topps base sets put out in my lifetime, which unfortunately for me, means I have to complete from 1971 onwards!
Anyway, the 1980 set was the first major set I really put effort into completing. I have a lot of doubles and found 24 from your want list. Some are in perfect condition … others were clearly originally purchased by a 9 year old kid with an affection for pencils and rubber bands in 1980 … so you might only want them as placeholders until you can find better conditioned cards. You are welcome to them. Let me know if you do and I will package them and send them along.

I found your site while searching for info on baseball cards. Your story is very familiar to me, as I too jumped back into the hobby last year – I started in 1987 and collected for a few years. I’ve purchased a few cards off and on through the years until last year when I used the birth of my twin sons as an excuse to get back in.

I have the complete 1989-1993 Topps set as well as the complete Topps “Traded Update” 1989-1991. I don’t see a need to collect any more since Topps no longer includes Managers/Team Leaders etc.
