Moving right along to the next 4 packs of Ginter, my running total is 41 points. This would put me on pace to get 221 points (36 in 4 packs x 6 = 216, plus the 5 points from the N43 box topper). At the time I posted this, that would get me 2nd place out of the other 3 who have posted so far.
Pack 5
#57 – Derek Jeter (-1 for Yankees). Not a good start. Let’s try again.
#119 – Nancy Lopez. What, no love for the wife of Ray Knight?
#189 – Rickie Fowler. Just kidding – really Dexter.
#77 – Rafael Furcal.
#210 – Chase Utley.
#BHS6 – Jose Bautista (+3 for Baseball Highlight Sketches).
#PP7 – Antonio Salieri (+3 for Portraits in Penultimacy mini). I like this idea; would have liked a different one of these, though.
#HH31 – Adam Dunn (1 for Hometown Heroes). Look at his stats sometime. He is having a truly amazing year. Since 1920, no player has qualified for the batting title and hit below .179. At the time I scheduled this post, Dunn, who will definitely qualify for the batting title, is hitting .159.
Pack total: 6 points
Running total: 47 points
Pack 6
#100 – Albert Pujols. Boo, cardinals. Yay – my fantasy baseball team.
#26 – Edwin Jackson.
#206 – Tsuyoshi Nishioka.
#NNO – A black and white drawing of a flower. I have no idea what this is, it obviously has something to do with the code.
#84 – Greg Halman. For different reasons, I have no idea what this is either. I have never heard of Greg Halman of the Mariners.
#327 – David DeJesus (+2 for SP).
#233 – Ben Zobrist (+2 for A&G Ad Back mini). This one has a number on the back. Having a no-numbered version is stupid.
#MMF11 – Tycho Brahe (+2 for Minds that Made the Future). Tycho was the name of a Star Wars character in Rogue Squadron – he’s usually one step under Wedge Antilles. This Tycho invented instruments that calculated positions of stars, before telescopes were available. Coincidence? I think not!
Pack total: 6 points
Running total: 53 points.
New pace: 217 points.
Pack 7
#77 – Chris Perez.
#4 – Jhoulys Chacin.
#182 – Clay Buchholz.
#277 – Hank Conger.
#273 – Brent Morel. Man, this is turning into quite a dud of a pack.
#106 – Jonathan Broxton (+3 for Code Card). I can’t believe Night Owl didn’t pick him as his FP.
#27 mini – Dillon Gee.
#HH5 – Chase Utley (+1 for Hometown Heroes). Man, that pack was awful.
Pack total: 4 points.
Running total: 57 points.
Pack 8
#176 – Brian Bogusevic.
#12 – Hope Solo (+1 for being a distant relative of Han). Hope is in both Ginter and Goodwin. I’m not sure what that means in the grand scheme of things, but it’s true.
#AOM12 – Reptiles (+1 for Ascent of Man). Reptiles inhabit every continent on the globe except Antarctica. Quite a few species could say that, I think.
#324 – Domonic Brown (+2 for SP).
#29 – Johnny Cueto (+1 for FT). Slow but steady in this pack. My wife saw that I was getting in this racket, and she asked why I picked Jay Bruce, but not Cueto. I’m not sure.
#237 – Carlos Quentin. Broke the streak. Probably because he plays on Adam Dunn’s team. OK, big bucks, big bucks, no whammies, no whammies…. Stop!
#327 mini – David DeJesus (+14 for Black Bordered SP mini). Press Your Luck!!!!
#HH96 – Brian McCann (+1 for Hometown Heroes).
Pack total: 20 points.
Running total: 77 points.
New Pace – 221 points. Exactly where I was on pace at the end of the last pack. I’m not getting many Reds, though.
MVP of the post – David DeJesus. Until tomorrow, then…

if you are interested in parting with it….i would love to work out a trade for the dejesus black mini….or heck any of other minis as well…
Duane
Sure, I’ll send you an email.
I got a nice chuckle out of the Night Owl/Broxton comment. I got three different Jay Bruces in my GAC box, so I am glad you picked him as FP.
That’s cool – overall, I didn’t do so well with Reds in this box.
I’m not collecting this, but that baseball highlights sketch card is really nice looking.
I like those, too.
